Urbandary Album Review

One of the most long awaited albums has finally hit stores! Urban Hype are one of Zambia’s great music exports with a sizeable following in Southern, East and West Africa – the group is creating waves and making Zambia proud. One of the proudest moments is when they represented Zambia in Austin, Texas at the South by Southwest SXSW Festival earlier this year.

This album is packed with feel good songs and doesn’t have a single dull moment – the features are also on point with artists like Khaligraph Jones, Slap Dee, Macky2, Roberto and Skales giving memorable appearances. The production is very diverse – yet to verify who produced what on this album but I can recognize TSean and Fjay on the boards on a track or two. Would have loved to hear a few conscious songs which I know they are fully capable of. One of my favorites is “Strong” featuring Tbwoy – very laid back and the guitar is simply mesmerizing.

Urban Hype is a triple threat with Fjay bringing the Rnb vibe, The Ajay with the Hip Hop and Badman Shapi with the Dancehall – The group was formed in 2011 and came to prominence in 2013 when they signed a Record deal with Taurus music and released the bangers Freezer and Chimbilimbili. Definitely looking forward to what else the group has in store for us!
